"Scotton, More than just a Racing Driver "

About Rogerio Scotton

  • Scotton Racing (Scotton enterprises) was founded in 10/03/2002 in Boca Raton, Florida, when Rogerio Scotton took his knack for tinkering with Export & Import  and turned it into a small business. Since its first days operating out of Rogerio Scotton own garage, the company has continued to grow on different areas.
  • Beginnings
  • In the late 1990's Roger Scotton began this pursuit of a dream with participation in local driving events, autocrosses, and multiple Porsche Club of America, American Le Mans and Grand American racing events and functions. In 1990, he attended his first ever high-speed driving event at Road America and from that day forward the hook was set. In 1992, Roger started racing in regional and national Skip Barber Formula Ford races, methodically working his way up through the ranks.
  • The company began in Scotton's garage and driveway in Boca Raton, FL. Hidden behind the hedge and out of view from the neighbors. Cars and parts were constantly being assembled and dis-assembled. By himself, Scotton manned the phones and all the paperwork and the shipping. On the weekends, he went off and attended a variety of events, races, and swap meets. Scotton had built a 1997 an Mazda MX5 twin turbo race car with an arsenal of performance parts and successfully competed in numerous events over the next few seasons including the Motorola Cup. Those days were hard and, as they still do today, they put in very long hours.

                                                                                                                                                 Going Pro

  • Scotton entered his first professional race, the 1999 IMSA California Grand Prix, after several years of running up-front in the Motorola Cup, Skip Barber. Against long odds, Scotton won that race, and The Scotton Racing Group professional racing team was born. All the while, Scotton continued the development of the company related with his business of Import & Export and stayed true to his roots by staying involved in multiple club racing programs.
  • From 2000 until 2002, Roger Scotton gained valuable experience and respect at some of the best tracks in the country, including Scotton first entry in the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2001 and his first win at the 24Hours of Moroso.
  • Between the wins at the Rolex 24 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2002,   Scotton enjoyed a phenomenal level of success and a true "Dream Season". As the American Le Mans Series and Grand-Am seasons continued, Rogerio Scotton strung together a long series of top finishes, including wins at the Grand Prix of Motorsport, Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio and Grand-Am 400 at California Speedway. Roger finished on the podium 9 times in 2002, including 4 in a row in the ALMS.
  • On  January 15, 2003, Scotton was knocked from his motorbike and spent 4 weeks at the hospital ICU.  During  undergoing evaluation at a local Boca Raton hospital he was stabilized as his condition at the time was serious.  On Saturday 18, 2003, Scotton's respirator were removed and he was able to breathe on his own, to answer questions from the doctors and respond to commands.  On Sunday, January 19, the hospital medical staff did state that Scotton had go undergo further evaluation and MRI for his legs and head injuries. During that time, his vital signs was good.  However, Scotton  had respiratory problems during the Saturday night and have remained on the respirator while he was  sedated for another twenty-four hours.  The extent of his injuries are to his knees, foot and his nose.
  • On March of 2003, Scotton attempted to run the 12Hours of Sebring, with JMB Racing USA driving the team, driving an Ferrari 360 GT. However, after the qualify Scotton had presented numerous difficulties to focus and breath. The medical officials prohibit Scotton from racing which Scotton also had believed that was the right decision.
  •  On 22 September of 2003, Scotton was involved in an accident while racing on the Homestead race course in Florida. The crash resulted in a long break from racing for Scotton, and his participation in the 2003 through 2004 Le Mans Race season was in jeopardy. However, Scotton recuperated quickly, and was cleared by the doctors to start the race for the year of 2006. It was reported that a new type of collar may have prevented him suffering a broken neck in the crash.
  • As Scotton looks forward to 2007, it is hard to ignore the success of the past. Rogerio  Scotton  have proven time and time again that it is a premier sports car force- on and off the track. 2006 brought many new faces into the fold, and a solid management foundation has been built to propel Scotton Racing into even higher ranks of success. Sales, marketing and race teams are stronger than ever before, bringing more knowledge and experience to the table- all in the name of the continuous pursuit of excellence through tough challenges and sweet victories.
  •  The 2008 race season saw Scotton finishing in third place . Scotton did not finish the 2008 race following Anthony Capello's crash while the car was leading the race by four laps. Scotton returned in 2010 to claim an eighth victory and extend the record for most wins. In 2011, he took his ninth victory at the event, extending his record and legendary status even further. Also he has received nickname "Mr.  Kamikaze & Crash,  because of the record of winning without mercy and fear.
