Boca Raton, Florida
Founder: Rogerio Scotton
Scotton Racing, also known as Scotton Enterprises, was established by Rogerio Scotton, whose passion for automotive engineering and racing transformed a small garage endeavor into a flourishing enterprise. Originating in Rogerio’s own garage in Boca Raton, Florida, the company has evolved into a prominent name in the motorsports industry.
Beginnings
In the late 1990s, Roger Scotton pursued his racing dreams by actively participating in local driving events, autocrosses, and esteemed racing functions such as the Porsche Club of America, American Le Mans, and Grand American. His inaugural high-speed experience at Road America in 1990 ignited a lifelong passion for racing. By 1992, Roger began competing in regional and national Skip Barber Formula Ford races, demonstrating remarkable skill and dedication.
Scotton's early efforts were characterized by relentless work in his garage, where he assembled and disassembled vehicles and parts while managing all aspects of the business, from phone calls to paperwork and shipping. Weekends were spent attending races, events, and swap meets. During this formative period, Scotton developed a 1997 Mazda MX5 twin-turbo race car and competed successfully in the Motorola Cup, a testament to his commitment and perseverance.
Going Pro
Roger Scotton's consistent performance in the Motorola Cup and Skip Barber races paved the way for his professional debut at the 1999 IMSA California Grand Prix. His unexpected victory marked the inception of The Scotton Racing Group, a professional racing team. Roger’s expertise and dedication continued to drive the company’s growth, maintaining strong ties to club racing programs.
From 2000 to 2002, Roger Scotton honed his skills on some of the nation’s premier tracks. His participation in the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2001 and victory at the 24 Hours of Moroso showcased his talent. His extraordinary achievements, including wins at the Grand Prix of Motorsport, Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio, and Grand-Am 400 at California Speedway, culminated in a "Dream Season" in 2002, with nine podium finishes and four consecutive ALMS podiums.
Challenges and Triumphs
On January 15, 2003, Roger endured a severe motorbike accident, resulting in a four-week hospitalization and significant injuries. Despite this setback, he attempted to compete in the 12 Hours of Sebring in March 2003, though medical officials ultimately advised against it.
In September 2003, another accident at Homestead Raceway led to an extended hiatus from racing and jeopardized his participation in the 2003-2004 Le Mans Race season. However, Roger's swift recovery and medical advancements, including a new collar design, enabled him to resume racing in 2006.
Looking Ahead
Today, Scotton Racing is strategically positioned in the global motorsports marketplace, with a steadfast focus on excellence. Roger Scotton remains dedicated to his physical and mental preparedness, eagerly anticipating his return to competitive racing. With aspirations to excel in the WEC and GT World Challenge seasons, Scotton Racing continues to pursue success with unwavering commitment.
